A 3.5-acre urban farm in East Austin has been devoted to transforming the lives of Austin youth for over ten years. For the last decade, Urban Roots has reached over 16,000 people each year through farming internships and fellowship programs, community volunteer days, farm tours and sharing their harvest with the community.
After coming to a critical anniversary in their organization, Urban Roots wanted to re-evaluate their communications efforts. Their mission was to increase volunteer and donor participation rates and to engage more youth in their programs. They needed innovative ways to generate awareness of their mission and impact. This is where STAV came in.
We performed a communications audit to gain more understanding of Urban Roots’ current marketing strategies and target audience, and immersed ourselves into the brand through volunteering at the farm to understand the brand at its core. The result was a custom communications plan featuring SEO research, content marketing and a redesigned website by our team. With their new website design and communication strategies, Urban Roots can continue to communicate its mission effectively and transform lives in our community’s youth.
